Your heading out to sea, passing through the heads of Knysna which in its own right is a sight to see, not knowing what to expect. It’s a calm day, and the warm breeze folds around you like a blanket. The serenity of the ocean sometimes catches you unaware with days like these. Mostly I am enjoying the enviroment, feeling the power of the boat gliding through the water and trusting my skipper’s guidance of knowing the ocean and its offerings.
In what feels like a mere few minutes we approach the Buffalo bay beach stretch and the water around us comes alive with activity. Dolphins, bottlenose dolphins to be precise, hundreds of them. Feeding and playing all around us, in awe I watch for a few minutes taking it all in before realising I have a camera in hand, They glow and sparkle, I dash and snap away until I surrender to the pure bliss of their enjoyment and I think mine to. What an honour to experience these graceful creatures, their interaction is infectious and mesmerizing and you feel part of some mystery that was only offered to you for a moment.
In this huge and powerful body of water called the ocean there is a gentleness that leaves you wondering of life beneath us and its vulnerability. Once again I am aware of where I stand on the planet and what has become a part of my consciousness and the need to care.
Leaving the sea behind and heading back to shore with a kinda cheesy grin on my face and a happy soul. Thank you Ocean Odyssey for a wonderful experience, your caring way of sharing you knowledge and your respect for the ocean. Recommendation one hundred.
